This post takes the mythological Greek character Sisyphus who was basically made to push a rock up a hill only to see it role back down for being so self important. These days the self important that we keep voting into government, or support through consumerism delegate the job to the ordinary person. Of course they have tweeted the model so everyone gets to feel they have had a little win every now and then just to keep the rocks rolling.
There is a lot of resentment and disillusionment in the world today and the dream of societies working together for the greater good seems to be giving way to an insular , walled in approach, defined by fear and insecurity.
So this more philosophical year of my life begins with the idea of lost hope while I search for ways to find new hope. But all in good humour, Life is good. It could always be little better.
Well this brings a close to year (365 blogs) of political satire. Next year will be a little different with less of the daily news and more of a philosophical examination of society and culture in a consumerist world. Broader politics will not escape.

It’s as if the refugees are a commodity at the hands of the unscrupulous free market economy from the time they are smuggled out of their country of origin until they get to the end their journey wherever that may be.
